Washington Today (6-9-23): Federal indictment unsealed in classified docs case against Donald Trump

Justice Department Special Counsel Jack Smith speaks about unsealing of the federal indictment of Donald Trump –former President and current presidential candidate – with 37 felony charges related to Donald Trump and an aide’s mishandling of confidential documents after he left office, saying “Our laws that protect national defense information are critical to the safety and security of the United States and they must be enforced.”

We also get reaction from Donald Trump, his now former lawyer Jim Trusty and republican presidential candidate Mike Pence

We will talk about how the indictment impacts the race for the White House with Washington Post National Politics Reporter Hannah Knowles.

White House say it will not comment on this independent investigation, but that did not stop the reporters’ questions to President Biden and Deputy Press Secretary Olivia Dalton.
